STILL nothing much on Liv, however LovelyLivTyler.com updated us on Liv and Royston's wedding plans. Apparently, the wedding is not scheduled for this summer and nothing is definite yet, although the pair are still marrying. phewwie lol. (Happy Birthday to Royston, who turned 30 on May 1st)
Remeber last week we mentioned an extra scene with Arwen in the extended version of FOTR on DVD? Well, we were asked this question;
You said in the 'Lording it over Liv' issue #4, that in the extented version of the DVD (the
fellowship of the ring) there will be a scene, that shows the emotional thing between her and
Aragorn when he's leaving. So, is that scene going to be in VHS also?? Is there going to extented
VHS version? Thank you. :)
--Suvi ( beautiful_liv_tyler@yahoo.com )
Yes, there will be an extended version of the film on VHS aswell as DVD and both will be released at the same time in November.
(pre-ordering is highly recommended. You can do it at: amazon or blackstar. Just search for Lord of the Rings, or Fellowship of the Ring)
Extra Scenes include:
- Arwen's emotional reaction when Aragorn departs.
- Elrond seeing off the Fellowship
- Galadriel giving her gift's to the Fellowship.
- More battle scenes that are said to be fairly graphic, changing the rating to R (USA).
- And more scenes, yet to be confirmed.

Yup, this is a new edition to Lording It Over Liv. "The Section" is the part of the zine where we find something interesting, Liv related of course, to tell you guys about.
Take a look at this beautiful picture of Liv.
This picture was taken for the front cover of the April 1997 issue of "Vanity Fair" magazine.
In it Liv's hands (and feet, although you can't see them) were intricately decorated using an art called "Henna painting".
In this issue, we're going to give you some information about henna painting, and how to create this beautiful look.
(all the information used in this issue is from the book "The Art of Mehndi" by Sumita Batra)
Mehndi - A History
-- Henna paste, made from the crushed leaves of the Henna plant, was used to colour the skin as long as five thouand years ago. In India, North Africa, South-East Asia and the Middle East, henna is seen as a blessing with the power to bring the wearer happiness and wealth.
In the twelth century, the moguls are thought to have introduced the art of Mehndi to India, where it has long played a significant part in the wedding ritual.
Henna painting spans many countries and religions, but the design details vary from culture to culture. Generally, Indian designs are made up of finely drawn foral and paisley designs. Arabic concentrate on larger floral motifs on the hands and feet, and African designs include bold geometric shapes.
The art of Mehndi is synonymous with women, who apply henna decoratively to their bodies with intricate designs, which have been faithfully passed down from one generation to the next. But because the art of Mehndi belongsin a female domain, the chronicles of history, who were exclusively male, have written little about this absorbing ancient pratice.
Mehndi Grows Trendy
-- The new trend for everything eastern shows a shift in Western thinking away from the material towards the spiritual. With the west alreading interested in many anciane metaphysical therapies, the appeal of mehndi is not just in decorating the body, but as a holistic experience to share.
Public intrest in mehndi began to grow in 1996 when lorretta Roome, a musician, met Indian artist Rani Patel in New York. Under Rani's teachings, Lorretta learnt the art of Mehndi and held a photographic exhibition to demonstrate it in a gallery in the city. The exhibition attracted immense media attention, particularly because of the temopary nature of the henna art form.
When Lwren Scott had her hands and feet painted with traditional mehndi, she attended a number of high profile parties in Hollywood addorned with the tattoos. She recieved much attention and appreciation for the henna paintings. She then went on to hire Ziba (The authors Salon, that specialises in Henna painting) to paint the hands and feet of Liv Tyler, who was photographed by Herb Ritts for the cover of Vanity Fair. The issue hit newsstands in April 1997, and soon afterwards features on the art of mehndi followed in many of the major fashion and beauty magazines, and on television.
Celebrities who have wanted to be seen adorned with mehndi include Demi Moore, Naomi Campbell, Gwen Stefani, Mira Sorvino, Kathleen Robertson, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince and Madonna. (She had her arms and feet painted with henna for her comeback single "Frozen" which went straight to Number 1)
The second important factor in mehndi's growth was its temporary and painless status. Tattoo's that last up to three weeks were the perfect alternative to the other hot trend of the moment -- painful and permanant tattoos
The Basic Recipe
-- ingredients (henna paste) :: 2 tea bags, 2 teaspoons of coffee, 2 teaspoons of taramind paste, 1 teaspoon of ground cloves, 6-8 whole cloves, 425ml (3 quarters of a pint) water, 5-6 tablespoons henna powder*, 5 drops eucalyptus oil.
[*=you should be able to find quality henna powder in health-food shops, pharmacies, drugstores, specialist beauty shops and Indian and Morrocan stores. Look for bright green powder. The brighter the colour, the darker the stain. Top quality henna should smell just like fresh herbs, so make sure you smell before you buy :o)]
-- 1. Place the tea bags, coffee, tamarind paste and the ground and whole cloves in a saucepan. Pour in the water, mix the ingredients together and bring it to the boil. Allow the mixture to simmer for about an hour and then leave it to cool. [Remember, the more you boil the water, the stronger the mix will become.
-- 2. Sieve the henna powder into a glass, ceramic or stainless steel mixing bowl. Strain the cooled mixture, add a little to the henna and stir it well. Gradually add the rest of the liquid, stirring all the time, until the paste is the same consistency as toothpaste.
-- 3. Make sure there are no lumps in the paste, then add the drops of eucolyptus oil and mix well to form a thick lotion.
-- 4. Cover the mixture and leave for about 12 hours to allow the natural dye to precipitate from the henna.
-- (Lemon and Sugar Fixer) :: juice of half a lemon or 3 teaspoons of concentrated lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of sugar.
-- 1. Strain the lemon juice into a mixing bowl to remove any pips and pulp.
-- 2. Add the sugar and mix well.
-- 3. Wait until the henna paste is dry before applying the lemon and sugar fixer, then use a cotton wool bud to dab a little of the fixer on to your design, taking care not to rub off the henna paste.
-- When applying the henna paste, make a cone using heavy-duty plastic. Take a rectangle of plastic (7 x 5 inches) and take one of the top corners, ralling it diagonally, to form a cone, than tape the paper together. Snip a hole in the bottom point of the plastic, no bigger than a pin head, and half fill the cone with henna paste using a teaspoon. Pinch together the top of your cone, fold it over and tape it down. Now your ready to start designing!!
-- Remember, guys, although the history of Mehndi is mostly about the decoration of women, there are some gorgeous masculine designs for males to try. If your thinking about getting a tattoo, this is a great way to test out ideas, without doing anything irreversible. So get creative and give it a go!!

know something interesting about Liv? TeLL Us
about One Night at McCools....
-- Liv dyed her hair red for the role
-- Liv played one wamon with three different faces. Innocent, Sexy and Tough.
-- Harald Zwalt, who directed McCools, saw that Liv had the ability to be raunchy and sexy, although most of the films she had starred in previously showed her in no such light. He knew all he had to do was bring it out of her. (ahem, car wash scene much??)
-- Liv found doing the car wash scene really hard, and couldn't bring herself to watch it when she saw the film.

p.s - Sorry again for this issue being so late.... and in two parts. For the last few weeks, aol has had problems with sending emails with embedded images in. Before this week, we've usually persisted and the zine has sent eventually. However this week, aol was being particulary stubborn, so we gave up for a night, then decided to split the zine in two.
Sorry for any inconvinience and we hope this hasn't made you enjoy the issue any less.
Take care,
Suzie & Vikki
