About the pros/cons of being the daughter of a music celebrity.
"Half my directors have no idea about my family situation. [Stealing Beauty director] Bernardo [Bertolucci] had no idea who Aerosmith was. People always want to take away from the work that you did, like they want to think it was easy, somehow. I got those parts because I worked hard to get them."

"They've used a lot of old Hollywood tricks actually. Like you know, they put actual pantyhose over the lens and they put a beam of light across your eyes, like the classic type of noire lighting and stuff, so that was very fun."
What she thinks of Jewel.
"I loved the idea that you never see her from her point of view and you only see her from these three men's different point of view and it's all about projection. They are projecting onto her what they want her to be and she's filling that place for them and in turn filling something that they are missing in their lives. That's making them feel somehow."
About the way she chooses her roles.
"I have great patience and I’m willing to wait until that [special] thing comes along.
For me, it’s all about the director.
It’s not about it being a vehicle for me, or some big part or the movie has to be a hit.
It’s not about that kind of stuff. Sometimes I’ll find a story I really like or a script I really like and the director might not be attached yet or maybe I won’t think the director’s really right, and so I won’t do it. I am a slave to the director in a lot of senses. A lot of it is me, I’m the one embodying the character, but I want to be able to trust and be guided by genius, nothing less than that."
About Peter Jackson.
"He always wears shorts! It could be snowing in New Zealand and he wears shorts all day long. It’s hard to talk about it in a short amount of time because it was a year and a half, a long experience. But Peter was really sweet and really smart."
About how she feels life.
"Life excites me. I'm not talking about appearing in movies or doing interviews, but just little, normal, everyday things. Getting out of bed. Getting dressed. Making food. I find it all exciting, you know ?"
About how much she loves her father.
"I love my dad, although I'm definitely critical of him sometimes, like when his pants are too tight. ... But I love him so much and I try to be really supportive of him."
About living a normal life.
"I don't live a very posh life. There are no drivers waiting or people doing everything for me. I pretty much live like a normal person. . . . It's not good to have a life without responsibilities, you know ?."

"It was so embarrassing," Tyler said. "Everytime I see it, I blush. Imagine if you saw yourselves like that. It's one thing to get dressed up and do the movie star thing, but I mean, it's my job to be outside of that and it's not like I'm on the outside when they're all watching me."
About acting.
"It's terrifying. It's so scary, because you get used to being around the crew and being friendly with everyone and then suddenly, at a certain point, everything switches and you're the one standing behind the lights and nobody's going to help you. And that can be really difficult sometimes."
About Elvish language.
"It's an amazing thing, really," she gushes, "It's a legitimate language. There are only a certain amount of people in the world who can speak it, like Oxford professors and what not. It's such a beautiful language too, it's really brilliant."
About she being taller than her boyfriend Royston.
"He's a couple of inches shorter than me, but when I take my shoes off everything is fine."
About the Academy Awards.
"I just think it's really funny and entertaining. I mean, I don't necessarily take them really seriously - I don't even think a lot of really good films get seen. But I don't think that's what it's about."I mean, how amazing was Ellen Burstyn in Requiem For A Dream ? Especially as she was acting with herself most of the time. I don't understand how a performance like that can't win. I was so affected by that movie that I had to turn it off. I felt as if I was on drugs and my heart was about to leap out of my body."

"I didn't want to be acting against somebody I didn't like, especially in Matt's part, but he was interested immediately, and that worked out fine," she says, suppressing a giggle. "I had a list, and I crossed names off. It was kind of fun."

About her fans
"I am amazed I have any fans at all!!! It makes me feel so good to know that I do. It makes me feel really good inside to know that there are some people out there who seem to understand me in some ways even though they don't know me in the flesh."
About the similarity between her and her movie-characters
"I guess there is a bit of me in all my characters. But I really love to be someone else when I'm acting. I like to try and forget about myself and try to understand how the character thinks. Every film is different and the way I approach each character depends on the film. Like in The Lord of the Rings, that is a character that is so different from myself. I have to work really hard to be Arwen. Whenever Liv starts to creep into Arwen it doesn’t work at all. But in a film like Jersey Girl, I can let parts of myself out because I am playing a young woman not too different from myself. It is hard for me to explain in words as it is more of a feeling for me. When I am thinking of the character I can just feel how they are, how they think, walk, talk and behave."
About working with Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck on Jersey Girl
"I had a great time working with Kevin and Ben. I really like acting with Ben. He is a very generous actor and is always very present in the scenes. I feel free to try anything with him and that is not something I feel all the time with actors. I think we work well together. Kevin is hysterical! He is always making me laugh and is such a great writer. He writes really well-rounded female characters. My character is smart, funny, brave and kind. I really enjoyed playing the part because she had so many great qualities. Many times female parts are lacking in depth but I feel Kevin really likes women, is interested in them, and knows how to write them well."
About working with Bernardo Bertolucci on Stealing Beauty
"Working with Bernardo was, and still is, one of the greatest highlights of my whole life. It was such an incredible opportunity for me as an actress at such a young age and also as a person. I went to Italy to film one day after graduating from high school, and I also turned 18 while I was there, so it was a very special and important time in my life. I still, to this day, feel so incredibly lucky to have had the chance to work on that film and with Bernardo. He is an incredible director and I dream of working with again"
About New York
"I guess what I like most about NY is that it feels like home to me. I was born here in 1977 and have lived here, on and off, my whole life. I feel very connected to NY. I love how much it has to offer, though it still feels small and cozy. There are so many amazing things to see here: incredible art, just about every film, amazing music, all kinds of interesting people. I like to ride my bike on the Hudson River . I like that I can walk my dog around two blocks and he meets about 20 other dogs to play with. I like that I can get a turkey sandwich at 4 in the morning if I want to. A beautiful night out in NYC can be any night because anything can happen. It is spontaneous and surprises you all the time."
About the impact of Lord Of The Rings
"I was staying with some friends in England, and it was New Year's. My husband, Roy, and I were sleeping, and I woke to the sound of our friend's two little boys. They were going around the bedrooms opening the doors and looking in. When they got to our door, one little boy went to open it and the other said, 'No! Don’t open that door. The princess is sleeping in there.' It made my heart leap out of my chest. I think that was the first time I really realized the impact these films had on people."
