The Ledge

Official words from the director and the producer of Liv's new movie The Ledge, from The Hollywood Reporter: Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson have been cast in the suspense film "The Ledge" from first-time writer-director Matthew Chapman. The actors join Terrence Howard and Charlie Hunnam in the story of a man (Hunnam) standing on a high-rise ledge who insists he must jump by noon as the policeman below (Howard) tries to manage the situation. The film, which is being produced by Michael Mailer ("Loverboy") and Mark Damon ("Monster"), began shooting Monday in Baton Rouge, La. Executive producers include Howard, Moshe Diamant, Bobby Ranghelov and Tamara Stuparich De La Barra. "'The Ledge' examines the different and sometimes dangerous beliefs people adopt as a means of surviving emotional trauma," Chapman said. Added Mailer: "As more and more films succumb to the visual wizardry of 3D, 'The Ledge' explores the fourth dimension: the interior life of tortured souls hovering over the precipice of emotional nullity. This film is the reason why I became an independent filmmaker and why I continue to suffer in the trenches of independent filmmaking." Damon's Foresight Unlimited is handling worldwide sales and financing the film, along with Germany's VIP Medienfonds. Read more here.

New Movie for Liv?

We saw no official announcement, but it looks like Liv is going to star in a new movie called The Ledge. Not only that, but the filming should start next week! Liv will play alongside Terrence Howard, Patrick Wilson and Charlie Hunnam! From Baton Rouge Business Report: A section of Third Street will be intermittently closed Monday for filming of The Ledge, a movie starring Liv Tyler. [...] The Ledge, which also stars Terrence Howard, Patrick Wilson and Charlie Hunnam, will shoot at various locations across the city through mid-April. According to IMDB, the independent movie is set for release next year. The production and casting companies are looking for stand-ins and extras: Baton Rouge Craiglist, Caballero Casting. Hopefully the producers will release an official announcement next week. More info as we have it. Update: The movie is written and directed by Matthew Chapman, and here is a synopsis, from The Film Catalogue: A young college professor, Gavin, stands on the ledge of a high-rise building and seems determined to take his own life. Enter a detective, Hollis, who has been sent to talk the "jumper" out of it - but discovers that Gavin has to jump off the building before noon that day. But we soon learn that Hollis has just suffered his own life-shattering experience, and in the end, it's Gavin who has to convince the policeman that his own life is worth living.

Crafts For A Cause

Liv Tyler is participating in yet another charity for Haiti, Crafts For A Cause. Liv, along with model Frankie Rayder, her daughter Sunny Bebop and Dallas Clayton decorated tote bag that will be auctioned at Bidding For Good, starting March 15th. Crafts For A Cause was established in an effort to raise money for the relief efforts in earthquake-devastated Haiti. The auction is being organized by musician Binki Shapiro of the band Little Joy, who rallied a bunch of artists to contribute custom-made artwork - t-shirts, tote bags and other personalized items. All proceeds will go to Artists for Peace and Justice, an organization with an immediate goal of "build[ing] schools to serve the poorest areas of Haiti, providing an education, hot meals, clean drinking water and regular medical treatments to the children living in the slums."
