| New movie for Liv?, Robot finds distributor | ||
|
Great news today - times two!
After the announcement for Liv's new role at The Side Effect, it looks like Liv got another new leading role in Phoenix. from ScreenDaily: Slated, which according to a press release caters "exclusively to seasoned filmmakers and award-winning breakout directors," has just completed a two-month beta period. The initial pipeline of nascent projects includes Amy Redford's Phoenix to star Liv Tyler and Benedict Cumberbatch. This project looks like in early stages, so nothing is set in stone. Another great news come from Robot & Frank - which finds a distributor, from Variety: Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and Samuel Goldwyn Films are partnering on the U.S. theatrical release and jointly acquiring North American rights to Park Pictures Features' "Robot & Frank," for north of $2 million. The comedy from first-time director Jake Schreier has garnered strongly positive reviews out of the fest. It stars Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon alongside James Marsden, Liv Tyler, Jeremy Sisto, Jeremy Strong and Peter Sarsgaard, who voices the titular robot. ... Additionally, SPWA has acquired all media rights for Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe including Russia. The movie is getting a great reviews, and a good distributor, so hopefully we'll all be able to watch it on the big screen soon! |

More from Sundance!
Liv attended various events yesterday at Sundance - Grey Goose Blue Door, T-Mobile Google Music Village, Robot and Frank casts portraits session and Robot And Frank Premiere. More photos at GettyImages, WireImage, Rex, Life.com, Isopix, Isifa,Newscom and FilmMagic. Update: Liv gave a short interview to Wall Street Journal, where she talked about both Robot & Frank and the soon-to-be-filmed The Side Effect: Ms. Tyler said her next project, "The Side Effect," combines science fiction and horror elements. The film is to be directed by Ti West, who gained something of a cult following for his 2009 retro horror flick "The House of the Devil." "I loved that movie," said Ms. Tyler. "It has so much texture." ... In "The Side Effect," Ms. Tyler will play a woman who finds herself pregnant after being sent into space. "I begged him for the part," the actress recalled. "I'm really excited to have a meaty role." ... For "Robot and Frank," Ms. Tyler said she shot for five days. (She is convincingly cast as Frank Langella's daughter–another other-worldly element is their towering height.) She was hesitant to work with another first-time director, she explained, but after the producer Galt Niederhoffer suggested she meet with NYU grad Jake Scheier, "I instantly knew I should work with him." Update 2: Some (very positive) reviews of Robot & Frank at NYMag, Filmthreat, Fangirlconfessions.com and Hollywood Reporter. Update 3: Short interview with Liv at Wall Street Journal: "We filmed in the summer, and it was like 105 degrees," said Ms. Tyler. "My character was supposed to hate the robot, but I had a hard time acting because I just felt so bad for the actress inside. The breathing holes were on her ears and she was always pressed up against the mask." Update 4: Clip from the red carpet at Vimeo.com. Update 5: Short video for VH1. Update 6: Video interview at E! Online. More Sundance reports to follow! |

| Reports from Sundance | ||||
|
Liv is on Sundance to promote her new movie Robot and Frank, doing interviews and press rounds.
BrandLink and GettyImages posted some photos (here with James Marsden): Update: More photos at OK, Daily Mail and Zimbio. Short clip at YouTube. The movie was premiered yesterday at Sundance, and will be screened today, and in the next days as well (more details at Sundance website.) The people over Fangirlconfessions.com saw the movie and are the first to write a review: I loved this movie. It's one of those rare things of beauty that I would expect to come out of a film festival like Sundance. Frank Langella brings such heart to his character, a man trying to perhaps recapture his glory days before he no longer remembers them. Kudos also to the supporting cast: Liv Tyler as the flighty daughter and Marsden as the frustrated son capture the pain that children suffer when dealing with a stubborn aging parent. As I have some experience with this, I found that much of this movie hit very close to home. Susan Sarandon as Jennifer rounds out the all-star cast as a librarian who seems to care as much about Frank as his children does. Insidemovies posted a clip from the movie (no Liv there), and Filmfetish.com posted a new photo with Liv and Frank Langella: More photos, clips, interview etc. very soon!! |
