The Leftovers grad has joined Hulu's Harlots as a series regular for its upcoming second season.
Set against the backdrop of 18th century Georgian London, Harlots follows the Wells family, led by matriarch Margaret (Samantha Morton). Tyler will play Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam, the aristocratic social butterfly whose long-held secrets keep her in the thrall of Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville). She is an increasingly desperate victim of Lydia’s blackmail. Trapped in a loveless marriage, Lady Fitz will find an unexpected friend and ally in courtesan Charlotte Wells (Jessica Brown Findlay).
Tyler joins the cast as enigmatic aristocrat, Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam. Known as Lady Fitz, she has a shadowy past and finds herself blackmailed by Lydia.
For Tyler, who now lives in London, it is the second recent role in a U.K.-originated drama. She also stars alongside Kit Harrington in the BBC’s Guy Fawkes drama "Gunpowder."
Monumental Television makes "Harlots," which ITV Studios sells internationally. "There is no equal to Liv Tyler’s brilliance and regal elegance, and we can't think of a better actress for the complex and passionate Lady Fitz," said Monumental Television co-directors Alison Owen and Debra Hayward in a statement.
"We're thrilled for her to join our gang of 'Harlots,' and can't wait to see the fireworks as her presence is felt by Lydia and Margaret."
