If I had to make a list of the most timeless women alive, Liv Tyler would have a stronghold on first place. A bold statement, I know, but can you really argue with me? She's the daughter of a rock legend and a Hollywood icon in her own right, who's staying relevant in HBO's apocalyptic hit The Leftovers. She's a new mom again, making headlines for breast-feeding on Instagram (my kind of woman!). She's virtually the face of natural beauty (see below) and classic style. And now, she's designing some seriously lust-worthy wardrobe essentials, too.
About that last point: Tyler releases her first collection with Belstaff today-and it's everything worth investing in for fall. Our picks are the leather jackets, little black bag, and knee-high boots above. If you're not as crazy about those as we are, fear not, the collection also includes shearling collars, every-girl leggings, and some cold-weather parkas, all for between $500 to $2,500. To celebrate the launch, we caught up with Tyler and asked her to spill the secrets to her style.
Glamour: First things first, tell us about your personal style. Liv Tyler: My sense of style is always growing as I mature, but I've always been most drawn to classic looks, not a trend or what's in fashion in that moment. I'm secretly a bit of a tomboy and I love to mix something very feminine with something strong, practical, and masculine.
Glamour: It sounds like your style translated perfectly to this collection. How are you actually going to style it? LT: I love wearing boots and a leather jacket with a beautiful dress. Having just had a baby, I want more wearable shapes, so a slim pant with the ankle showing and a flat shoe are top of mind. I'll wear those with the jackets and a blouse or men's shirt. I'm happiest at home with my baby in my arms wearing a great pair of pajamas-but that's what's working for me right now!
Glamour: What else inspired you for the Belstaff collection? LT: I wanted to create my essentials. They're pieces that every woman would enjoy having in her wardrobe and can wear season after season. My favorites are the military coat, the cashmere knee-length coat, and the green winter puffer coat. I love a jacket that looks like it could be yours or your boyfriend's.
Glamour: What style advice do you have for all the moms who read Glamour.com? Did you style change when you became a mother? LT: I know what works for me and my body and I try to stick to that. I favor simple shapes and designs-things that are practical and functional, but have a touch of elegance. I want to be able to throw a look together quickly while feeling and looking my best!
