General Liv Discussion / Request for donations
« on: May 14, 2008, 10:44:04 PM »
Dear visitors,
as you may know, we're on a brand new dedicated server. This has become a "must" for us, as traffic to the site has been increasing. This server is costing us much more money than the previous one.

So we'd like to ask for your help, in the form of donations. Anyone willing to donate, you can send us donations via paypal (not too much, just a few dollars), and it would definitely help. Our only other options are to run ads here on the forum and main site, or move back to the troublesome server. So any help in this matter would truly be appreciated. Thanks  :)

Lord of the Rings / RotK - The Complete Recordings
« on: September 12, 2007, 10:42:41 PM »
According to the complete soundtrack for Return of the King will be on sale on November 6.

Composed for symphony orchestra, adult and children's choir, and soloists, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - The Complete Recordings" was performed by London Philharmonic Orchestra, The London Voices, The London Oratory School Schola featuring vocal performances by Annie Lennox, Renée Fleming, Sissel, Ben Del Maestro and cast members Billy Boyd, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, and Dominic Monaghan. The score also features solos performed by renowned flautist Sir James Galway.

Means we might finally get a 'clean' version of Arwen's song. :D

Lord of the Rings / A Film-Maker's Journey

I got that PJ biography today. I didn't start reading yet, but plan to post a few Arwen/Liv or generally interesting tidbits (whether you want to hear them or not  ). But for now I've scanned the LotR related pics in there.

Please don't repost without permission - the scans aren't exactly top quality, but the book's a bitch to scan and it took me ages - and if you do, link back to LLT! :D

First, the picture I actually bought it for (don't look at me so silly, I know I'm mental :P ).

Off Topic / PotC: At World's End
« on: May 24, 2007, 06:05:31 PM »
Since quite a few of us have seen it and there seems to be a certain need to discuss the movie, a separate topic for that. Cause you can hardly discuss it without spoiling a few things for those who haven't seen it yet. :D

To start, I know several people who didn't like how the whole Will/Liz thing ended. Personally, I thought the wedding scene was hilarious and that he turns into the Captain of the Flying Dutchman to save his life is kinda bittersweet. I liked it. :D And the scene after the credits, though very cheesy, shows that it's some sort of Happy End after all. :D
What I don't get is why they don't meet up at sea inbetween, it's not like Liz is suddenly bound to land, is it?

Lord of the Rings / LotR Limited Edition
« on: June 22, 2006, 08:39:31 AM »
Three "The Lord of the Rings Limited Edition" sets, one for each movie, will roll out August 29. Each two-disc set will include the original theatrical and the extended versions of the film, along with Costa Botes' feature-length documentary on each film's creation.

Both versions of the three films -- 2001's "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," 2002's "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and 2003's "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" --have previously been released on DVD.
"But this is the first time they are available together, which we feel will appeal to the first-time buyer," New Line executive vp marketing Matt Lasorsa said.

New to DVD are the documentaries, in which director Peter Jackson and his crew gave Botes full access to the set for hours of behind-the-scenes footage.
"It's something fans have been asking for," Lasorsa said. .

"Costa was hired a year before principal photography began, and his job was to capture all the production, relate his personal experiences and provide his perspective for Peter."

Except for the first documentary's screening at the New Zealand Film Festival, none of the three video production diaries have been seen anywhere, Lasorsa said.

"New Line has owned these documentaries and waited to make them available to the general public," Lasorsa said. "The style of these documentaries is quite different from the documentaries on the extended-edition DVDs. These are more organic, and had they come out sooner people might have been confused."

While first-time buyers might be intrigued by the two versions of the film, ardent "Rings" fans who already own the two previous DVD releases might be enticed to buy a third just for the documentaries.
"It gives us the chance to refresh the franchise," Lasorsa said.

go to your user info page, move the cursor (don't click) to 'manage' in the menu and then click the appearing customise:

Choose Style System 2 for now...

Now you can choose a default layout... some of them are rather nice  :D

On the same page you can play around with the colours and such, too, if you like  :D

Off Topic / Be right back
« on: September 05, 2005, 09:28:05 PM »
As suggested by Hallaithilwen this will be the topic to tell us that you're on vacation, on your way to the moon or in general: not here for a longer time. (yes, even if you want to leave forever. You're coming back anyway  :P  :D )
Same goes for you being back from a longer absence.
Therefor please stay away from opening a new topic discussing that matter. If you still do it and can't find it afterwards then that's because one of us has merged it into this one.  :)
