History was made today...  And I know a lot of people are eager to discuss, so I've created a topic for the new president-elect of the USA.

This was such a historic and important event, I'm glad I was alive to witness it :)

I love the photo of the family coming out together :D Me and my mom had the same thought, that the whole speech was so surreal and unbelievable, it seemed almost like something out of a movie lol

It's sad that MLK wasn't alive to see this. But I saw Rev.Jesse Jackson crying on tv before.

I can't find it now, but I saw a picture of Martin Luther King's sister crying with joy

YES!

Now the global change for the better can begin.

I have never been so elated, nor so personally invested in any election of any country in my life. I wasn't convinced that America could overcome its historic racial prejudices and xenophobia and elect a black president, but it did and I am thrilled. I know that Obama is so much more than 'a black president', but you know what I mean. To me he was the best candidate, for his policies, his values and his personality. I trust him 100% with the power he now has in his hands, and it takes one hell of a lot to make me have faith in any politician.

I truly believe that the campaign this year to get young people to vote made a big difference. I think that it was a major factor in Obama's victory, I think that a lot of young people voted for him over McCain, so the fact that they got up and went out to the polling stations is wonderful, and they ought to feel proud.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Obama does over the course of the upcoming year, and I shall be keeping up to date on his progress.

Some little turd on facebook was saying that we should all be satisfied because the American people had just voted in...wait for it...a socialist facist. Yes ladies and gents, President Obama has a split personality.

Wow...I just got back from watching the election with a huge group of other Obama volunteers...we were all crying and freaking out! We were dancing in the street afterwards and I hugged so many people I didn't know...it was awesome!
I will post my pics when I get time...I'm soooo happy!!  :D

It's about time we got a president who knows what it's like to be middle-class, grow up with a single mom and not get everything handed to him...my feeling has always been that the country would never really change until we got someone who really understands the concerns that most people have everyday.

Now the work really will start and it's going to take all people here to help out, that's how Obama won...with everyone's help. He has an incredible gift for motivating, organizing and appealing to people's best nature...so I think people will continue to help him out.
Yes we can and Yes we did!!  :pcheerleader:

PS...I love that he won states that a Democrat hasn't won in FOREVER...or ever for that matter...Indiana (hooray Tiffany!) and Virginia and it's looking like North Carolina too...it's an official blowout!

oh wow I'm so glad he won, I just bumped into the bedroom and told  the bf. I'm all bouncy and very happy, maybe it's the time for change now.
I feared that all the excitement and eagerness for a half-black president wouldn't be enough to actually vote for him, but gladly the americans did

me is very pleased with this decision :hello2:
be my friend. hold me, wrap me up. I am small and needy. warm me up and breathe me
