The Whole Aragorn- Arwen Thing. . .
« on: September 24, 2003, 12:44:26 AM »
About this whole "Arwen doesn't belong in the movie because she isn't in the book" thing. . . and I'm going to be careful in how I put this. ..  don't want a bunch of people breathing down my neck. You guys who are out there (and I know there are quite a few) need to go read the book before proclaiming she is not in it. Being and true Lord of the Ring fan ;) I have read all three of the books as well as The Hobbit. Now if you were to read the stuff in the back of ROTK in the appendixes, you'd see a part called " Here Follows a Part of the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen". GUESS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT?! It is their love story and the only thing that the director did was put it in where it would have been rather than having some tacky scene at the end which would be impossible to follow (wouldn't it be dumb if they did that??) So, they are simply putting in an important part without making it COMPLETELY out of place.

I agree, and I was a big fan of LOTR before I saw the movies. Arwen's role is important because she is part of Aragon's life. Showing her gives us an idea of how hard it was for them to be apart, and it also shows us when Arwen's father(Elrond) is trying to convince her not to stay with her.

I think PJ did a wonderful job at incorperating her into the movies. Besides, LOTR needs more girl power!!! LOL.  :P

being grown up isnt half as fun as growing up
these are the best days of our lives
the only thing that matters is just following your heart
