That parts all very confusing. When Aragorn's smoking and Arwen in his head is saying go to sleep, that's a dream. And when he's with Arwen that's a dream. When's he's talking to Elrond that's a dream. Then the part when's he's talking to Arwen, that's a dream, but then he says it's a dream, nothing more, but then that whole part is a dream also, so now I am SSSOOOO confused, and after writing that, i'm MORE confused.

i think elves can talk to other people in thir heads so no it wasnt a dream that he was having (it couldnt have been because he was awake)
and he said it was all a dream as in they could not be together and it was just a dream that couldnt come true

at least thats what i got out of it ;)

Ok here's how it is:

At that part, he was remembering the dream that he had with Arwen, for he had that dream before he left with the Fellowship. Then Eowyn asks him about Arwen, and he remembers everything else that happened in Rivendell. Does that make sense?   :)

elven can send telephatic-like messages. In Lotr, gandalf, galadriel, elrond and celeborn speak to eachother using thoughts. Or something like it. It's in Rotk somewhere :)

So all of it happened before he even went out with the Fellowship?????
When is this gap? (for example, before the Council of Elrond?)

btw, no, I stink at acrostic poems.

Yes, it happened before the Fellowship departed. It took me a little while to figure it out before. I knew the elves could contact each other from far away, but it wouldn't have made sense with the story. I mean, if Arwen was sending telepathic messages that night, and the next day he's remebering himself saying "It was a dream, nothing more" it wouldn't have made sense. To answer your second question, LoL... :P ....I have no clue when it is, but most likely after the Council of Elrond.
