Far back in the Elder days the Elves became divided into 3 main branches. The Eldar, the West-elves and the East-elves. Most of the East-elves lived in Lórien and Mirkwood.
They were fair and beautiful creatures and it is said that when they spoke, it was as if they were singing.

After the departure of the Valar there was silence. Then Ilúvatar, who sat alone for an age, spoke and said: "Behold, I love the Earth, which shall be a mansion for the Quendi (original elvish name for the Elves) and the Atani! But the Quendi shall conceive and bring forth more beauty than all my children; and they shall have greater bliss in this world." ...

The Elves remain until the end of days, and their Love of the Earth and all the World is more single, as the years lengthen ever more sorrowful.
The Elves only die when the Earth dies, unless they are slayn or die of grief.
They don't lose their strength in age, and they don't visually age. Although one may grow weary of ten thousands of centuries.
